A leading offshore maritime organisation is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent (Offshore Vessels) to oversee the electrical and electronic systems across a fleet of offshore vessels. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal vessel performance, system reliability, and full compliance with international maritime and offshore industry regulations.
The successful candidate will work closely with vessel crews, technical teams, shipyards, and external vendors to support the safe and efficient operation of all electrical, automation, and control systems. This position is well-suited for individuals with strong offshore vessel experience and a background sailing as an Electrical Officer (ETO) or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the electrical and electronic management of assigned offshore vessels, including PSV, AHTS, DSV, and OSV fleets.
- Ensure all electrical systems, power generation and distribution systems, automation, and control systems are maintained to high operational standards.
- Provide technical support to vessel crews, assisting with troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolution of electrical and electronic issues.
- Monitor vessel performance, analyse recurring issues, and implement corrective and preventive actions to enhance reliability.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise electrical works during dry dockings, upgrades, retrofits, and major repair projects.
- Liaise with shipyards, OEMs, equipment manufacturers, and service engineers for maintenance, repairs, and system improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, IMCA guidelines, and offshore industry standards.
- Review and manage planned maintenance systems (PMS), ensuring accurate updates and execution of maintenance schedules.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available to support vessel operations.
- Support vessel inspections, audits, and client requirements to maintain operational readiness.
- Assist in preparing and managing budgets related to electrical maintenance, repairs, and capital expenditure projects.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including digitalisation, automation, and energy efficiency enhancements.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Prior sailing experience as an Electrical Officer (ETO) or Chief Electrician on offshore vessels is highly preferred.
- Minimum 2-5 years of shore-based experience in an Electrical Superintendent or similar role is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, power management systems (PMS), automation, and DP systems.
- Familiarity with offshore vessel operations such as PSV, AHTS, DSV, subsea vessels, or other support vessels.
- Good understanding of Class and Flag requirements, audits, and offshore compliance standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to manage technical emergencies effectively.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple vessels and projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
