Carry out fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and rectification of electrical systems and equipment onboard ships.
Perform inspection, testing, and calibration of gas detection instruments in the workshop environment.
Oversee and liaise with third-party contractors when engagement is required.
Assist ship crew and Superintendents in sourcing and ordering the correct spare parts.
Compile, document, and submit detailed service and work completion reports.
Requirements
Minimum qualification of Higher Nitec / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
Competent in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Strong working knowledge of marine electrical systems, including but not limited to: o Engine control and alarm systems o Fire detection and alarm systems o CO and water mist firefighting systems o OWS / ODME systems o Ballast Water Management Systems o Cargo monitoring systems
Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience as a Marine Service Engineer.
Willing and able to attend to urgent work assignments, including weekends and public holidays.
Comfortable working onboard vessels at anchorage and within shipyard environments.
Flexible and able to adapt to changing work demands and conditions.
Keen to learn and continuously upgrade skills for new systems, products, and technologies.
Demonstrates strong responsibility, professionalism, and work ethics
Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Confident in communicating and managing situations involving ship crew.
Proficient in the use of business PCs or laptops, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
