Job Summary:
- Act as SME for site Instrumentation, Calibration & Control Systems and point of contact for all system machines and design-related queries.
- Responsible for the development of the URS, Engineering Technical Specification, and Maintenance/Calibration Procedure for E&I equipment and systems.
- Scope also includes the development of SOP, maintenance, and spare parts programs in preparation for operation.
- Participate in intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Participate or lead technical alignments and bid tabulation for tender packages for order placement.
- Support/lead the Operation Readiness of the E&I systems transiting from project to operation phase.
- The role will be transferred to the operational team upon project completion.

Project Phase:
- Instrumentation:
- Specifying instrumentation systems for the project, considering the process requirements, control strategies, and safety considerations.
- Selecting appropriate instrumentation devices such as sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, and analyzers.
- Review instrument datasheets, specifications, and installation details for procurement and construction purposes.
- Collaborating with other engineering disciplines to ensure the compatibility and integration of instrumentation systems with other project components.
- Participating in the selection and review of vendor proposals and technical submissions related to instrumentation.
- Conducting technical evaluations and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems during installation, commissioning, and startup.
- Calibration:
- Developing calibration procedures and guidelines for various instruments to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
- Establishing and maintaining a calibration program that complies with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Analyzing calibration data, and documenting results to ensure instruments are operating within specified tolerances.
- Collaborating with maintenance and operations teams to coordinate instrument calibration activities, including scheduling, tracking, and managing calibration records.
- Electrical Standards:
- Familiarizing oneself with applicable electrical codes, regulations, and standards specific to the project location or industry (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
- Ensuring compliance with electrical standards during the design, installation, and operation of electrical systems.
- Developing electrical design criteria, specifications, and drawings for power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, and other electrical systems.
- Review and understand electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and coordination studies to ensure proper system design and protection.
- Reviewing electrical drawings and specifications prepared by vendors or contractors to verify compliance with project standards.
- Participating in site inspections, testing, and commissioning activities related to electrical systems to ensure they meet specified standards.
Operation Phase:
System Operation, Maintenance & Calibration:
- Routinely examine, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems to detect and fix problems. Equipment performance, system records, and preventative maintenance are included.
- Manage process control and monitoring instrument calibration. This entails checking and recording equipment calibrations.
- Evaluate current electrical and instrumentation systems and suggest enhancements to increase performance, reliability, or safety.
- Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation system difficulties such equipment failures, instrument inaccuracy, and control system faults.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of electrical and instrumentation systems, including technical specifications, drawings, manuals, and maintenance records.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards in electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate electrical and instrumentation system efforts with other engineering disciplines, operational teams, contractors, and suppliers. Meetings, project planning, and scheduling are included.
- Accountable for relevant EHS audits, energy management, and energy conservation initiatives in businesses.
- Train and support operations workers on electrical and instrumentation system usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Through establishment of training materials, vendor manuals, and guidelines.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical & electronics engineering or a related field.
- The first degree must be recognized by the Singapore Professional Engineering Board.
- Minimum of 5 years in Engineering & Maintenance experience. Specifically in the field of E&I with Calibration Management (preferably in the GMP environment).
- Proficient Electrical System maintenance knowledge and regulatory standards.
- Experience working on BMS, EMS & PLC Control Systems.
- Capable of drafting (OOS) deviation and experience in handling both internal and external auditors.
- Project experience on greenfield startup.
- Experience with Singapore Energy Audit Requirement
- Preferably with SCEM and LEW Level 8 certification.
- familiarity with and prior hands-on experience with CMMS systems like Maximo or SAP.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel). Experience with planning tools such as Microsoft Project will be an advantage.
- Ability to use AutoCAD for drafting.
