Job Title: Electrical & Controls Engineer – Industrial Automation & Systems
Company: SESTO Robotics
Location: Singapore (Buona Vista / Onsite Project Sites)
Job Type: Full-Time
Remuneration Package: SGD $6,500 – $7,500 / month (12 months) + Variable Bonus (VB) + Annual Wage Supplement (AWS)
About SESTO Robotics
At SESTO Robotics, we deploy advanced Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) that power automated intralogistics across healthcare, manufacturing, and commercial facilities. Beyond the robots themselves, our engineering team designs and commissions complete field infrastructure—including electrical control panels, station interfaces, automated doors, lifts, PLC/safety controls, and sensors.
The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Electrical & Controls Engineer to take direct ownership of electrical panel design, PLC/HMI programming, safety circuits, and site integration.
We welcome candidates from diverse industrial backgrounds—including industrial automation, machinery, material handling, building management systems (BMS), elevator/door controls, or conveyor systems. You do not need a custom electronics/PCB background; we value practical industrial electrical design, PLC sequence control, safety logic, and field troubleshooting skills.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Drawing & PLC Logic Ownership: You have personally produced industrial electrical schematics/drawings AND personally programmed or materially modified PLC code (not just used HMIs or changed parameters).
- Safety Controls Mastery: You can clearly explain safety circuit design (e.g., E-stops, door interlocks, safety relays/PLCs) and distinguish between standard control functions vs. safety-related functions.
- Field Commissioning & Fault Finding: You have completed panel FAT, site commissioning, and isolated real-world, complex field faults.
- Disciplined Execution: You understand that undocumented ad-hoc wiring changes or informal onsite bypasses are unacceptable in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical & Panel Design: Produce control panel schematics, single-line diagrams, I/O lists, BOMs, cable schedules, and termination drawings. Select PLCs, safety relays, power supplies, contactors, and sensors based on load, safety, and operational conditions.
- PLC & HMI Development: Program and commission PLC/HMI sequences, interlocks, alarms, manual modes, and automated equipment handshakes (Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, digital I/O).
- Safety Circuit Engineering: Design and validate emergency-stop chains, interlocks, reset logic, and safe-state behavior according to risk assessment standards.
- Subcontractor & Panel Oversight: Manage panel builders and electrical contractors; conduct loop checks, insulation/continuity testing, and redline reviews before site handover.
- Site Commissioning & Troubleshooting: Lead field I/O checkout and isolate intermittent power, grounding, sensor, or industrial communication faults.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, Controls, or Automation Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years in industrial electrical design, machinery, PLC controls, or automation commissioning.
- PLC Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major ecosystem (Siemens, Omron, Beckhoff, Schneider, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, or Codesys).
- CAD Tools: Familiarity with electrical drafting software (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent).
What We Offer
• Base Salary: SGD $6,500 – $7,500 / month (commensurate with experience and technical assessment)
• Variable Bonus (VB): Performance-based bonus structure
• Annual Wage Supplement (AWS): 13th-month bonus - Non Mandtory
• Technical Impact: Direct ownership of critical electrical, safety, and control hardware across real-world automation sites.
