SUMMARY
We are looking for a Senior EHS Manager who will be responsible for the management of our occupational health, environmental and safety management systems and initiatives for Data Centre facilities in Malaysia.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of Occupational Health, Environmental and Safety programs.
The candidate will also manage compliance and monitor all in-house staff and outsourced contractor compliance with relevant regulations and legislations, and lead EHS risk assessments and method statements across all Data Centre sites to ensure teams are meeting contractual and legal responsibilities and requirements.
This role sits within the Resources Delivery function and will report directly to the VP of Resources Delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
. Inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with our customer requirements, government EHS regulations and applicable industry standards.
. Inspect the premises to identify safety, health, and environmental hazards and risks and follow-up till closures.
. Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections as per Company and client's requirements.
. Prepare and schedule training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
. Lead all site HSE incident investigation including all necessary reporting (e.g. incident report, RCA) and updates to management team.
. Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained/updated regularly and readily accessible when needed
. Maintain records of discharge of or employees exposure to hazardous wastes and/or pollutants, as per legislation
. Oversee, develop and implement EHS risk assessment to all critical works implementation. Present and liaise with our customer EHS personnel or Project Consultant to seek approvals.
. Conduct site specific audits to measure compliance with procedures/legislation and determine corrective actions, and close out all non-conformances identified
. Ensure our policies, systems, processes and procedures support ongoing ISO accreditation for Quality, Information Security, Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems
. Provide advisory assistance to all levels of employees on legal requirements, industry best practices and prevailing ground standards
. Collaborate with site management team to drive the Safety agenda
. Drives culture change/reinforcement of good safety culture, creating the forums and opportunities to involve and communicate with stakeholders
. Develops standards for performance assessment and benchmarking (eg ISO 14001, ISO45001)
. Coordinate accident investigation processes, recording and reporting industrial injuries. Continuously tracking/reporting of manhour lost due to incidents (i.e. minor/major incident, near misses etc).
. Build effective company, local, national EHS networks to learn and share best practices
. Coordinate with each function to ensure their daily operations follow EHS requirements and standards. Ensure staff are appropriately trained.
. Ensure implementation of Risk Assessment for all major work Change Control
. Application with implementation of LOTO (log out/tag out) under Change Management Workflow Process. Coordinate with Critical Operations and Property Operations in the review of risk assessments and safe system of work processes.
. Compliance of all applicable regulatory requirements and guidelines relating to Occupation Health, Safety and Environment of the buildings, infrastructure including work deliveries. Responsible for alerting both Regional EHS Manager and Country GM of any discrepancies upon issues identified.
. Lead, give guidance and training to relevant employees to identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure building's staff and occupants work in a safe environment.
. Provide support on EHS related matters to facility projects and modifications, including construction support, commissioning, and final acceptance, where applicable.
. Ensure all records and compliance documentation for all function operations are maintained and up to date, including building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal or State laws.
. Willingness to operate after office hours and public holidays, 24 x 7 available on call as and when needed to deal with HSE related matters especially emergencies. And under emergency, to return to Data Centre to conduct required investigation.
. Other EHS related work responsibilities as assigned by Regional EHS Manager
REQUIREMENTS
. Good knowledge of all laws that govern Occupational Health, Safety and Environment for Data Centre related building management and maintenance, including building safety, emergency evacuation and environmental protection.
. Bachelor of Science degree (preferred but not necessary) - preferably in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science or EHS related discipline.
. Must be registered/certified EHS Officer in Malaysia
. Other Professional EHS Certifications (e.g. Certified Environmental, Safety and Health, Charter Safety and Health Practitioner, Certified Professional Environment Auditor, Certified Safety Health Manager, Certified chartered Generalist OHS professional, and/or others) would add credentials.
. Conversant in ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and all Malaysia EHS legislation including OSH Act, Factories & Machinery Act, Fire Services Act, Environmental legislation and subsidiary regulations
. Minimum of 8-10 years experience (preferred but not necessary) of progressive experience leading EHS with heavy emphasis in safety, loss prevention and/or industrial hygiene in manufacturing operations and proven results leading and managing compliance and EHS management systems.
. Demonstrated ability to lead by example, work with business management and technical professionals, develop strong partnerships, communicate, influence and build consensus.
