About the role
CNA is looking for an Editor to oversee and drive the performance of social-first video across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Sitting within the Video Strategy team in CNA's Growth division, this role is focused on growing watch time on YouTube, and views, engagement and followers on TikTok and Instagram, while maintaining CNA's editorial standards and credibility.
This editor will combine editorial judgement, platform expertise and data-led decision-making to shape CNA's social video strategy, working closely with reporters, producers, designers and audience teams.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Strategy
- Drive CNA's social video strategy across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, aligned with Growth and newsroom priorities.
- Commission, edit and oversee platform-native video content, from breaking news explainers to longer-form YouTube programming.
- Ensure all content meets CNA's editorial standards while being optimised for social consumption and discoverability.
- Identify opportunities to translate CNA's journalism into compelling social video formats that resonate with younger and global audiences.
Platform Growth & Performance
- Drive watch time growth on YouTube, with a strong understanding of retention, packaging, thumbnails, titles and programming strategy.
- Grow views, engagement and followers on TikTok and Instagram through trend-aware, audience-first storytelling.
- Use analytics and insights to inform commissioning decisions, formats, publishing cadence and experimentation.
- Regularly review performance and translate data into actionable editorial improvements.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with reporters, video producers, graphics teams and social editors to deliver high-quality, scalable output.
- Guide and mentor producers and editors on best practices for social and YouTube video.
- Collaborate with audience development, SEO and product teams to maximise reach and impact.
Innovation & Experimentation
- Stay ahead of platform changes, emerging formats and audience behaviour.
- Test new video formats, storytelling approaches and distribution strategies to unlock growth.
- Identify and pilot new video workflows using AI applications.
Qualifications
- Strong editorial background, ideally in a digital-first newsroom or video-led organisation.
- Proven experience growing YouTube watch time and managing content performance on TikTok and Instagram.
- Deep understanding of social video formats, algorithms and audience behaviour across platforms.
- Comfortable working with data and analytics to inform editorial decisions.
- Excellent news judgement and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt journalism for different platforms.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to work across teams and manage multiple priorities.
