Position Summary
The Preschool Principal is responsible for overseeing the overall management and operations of the preschool centre in compliance with ECDA regulations and organisational policies. The Principal provides leadership to educators, ensures quality curriculum delivery, maintains a safe learning environment, and fosters strong partnerships with parents and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Centre Operations & Leadership
- Oversee daily centre operations to ensure smooth and efficient functioning.
- Lead and supervise teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Develop and implement centre goals, policies, and improvement plans.
- Ensure compliance with ECDA licensing requirements, regulations, and Code of Practice.
Curriculum & Teaching Quality
- Guide teachers in curriculum planning and implementation.
- Monitor teaching quality and children's learning outcomes.
- Promote best practices in early childhood education and child development.
Staff Management
- Mentor, coach, and evaluate staff performance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of educators.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working culture.
Child Safety & Well-being
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for all children.
- Oversee health, hygiene, and safety procedures.
- Manage incidents and ensure proper reporting procedures are followed.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Address parent feedback and concerns professionally.
- Organise parent engagement activities and centre events.
Administration & Compliance
- Manage enrolment, attendance, budgeting, and centre records.
- Prepare reports and documentation required by ECDA and management.
- Ensure proper maintenance of facilities and resources.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Care & Education - Leadership (or equivalent).
- ECDA-certified and eligible for Principal appointment.
- Valid L2 certification.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant preschool teaching and leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead teams and manage stakeholders effectively.
