The school now has an exciting opportunity for a EAL Coordinator (Secondary) to join our EAL team.

About the Role:

The EAL Coordinator (Secondary) plays a central role in supporting multilingual learners to develop English proficiency and

achieve academic success across the curriculum. The EAL Coordinator (Secondary) role to support the school's vision by providing leadership in the EAL department. This position contributes to a school wide vision of tiered, student-centered support, where EAL specialist partner with teachers, leaders, and the wider Integrated Services team to enhance equitable learning for all students.

Position requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in working with MLL students with relevant qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and desire to be an active and positive member of the leadership team
  • MYP and DP teaching experience and/or knowledge of AERO standards
  • SIOP trained or equivalent
  • Trained in English language assessment platforms i.e., WIDA, SLATE, IELT
  • Experience in leading teams and professional learning
  • Ability to develop and retain new and experienced staff
  • Experience in teacher observation and oversight or willingness to be trained
  • Curriculum development knowledge is required.
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Strong language acquisition knowledge across Secondary school
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent is required.
  • Masters in Education preferred.
  • Teaching certification
  • Certification/s of teaching language learners
  • MYP and DP trained
