Overview

The Head of Development, Recreational and Learn to Swim (LTS) position is for an energetic, creative person with a positive mindset. This role suits someone who loves communicating with parents and stakeholders and appreciates how essential this is for building a strong, inclusive sense of community. We need someone who is an effective team leader with a passion for helping other coaches grow and improve while understanding that teams are made up of people with varying skill levels and abilities. While you do not need to love administration, you understand that it is vital to run an effective program. You have a passion for child development and actively seek out opportunities and industry innovations to apply to your program, have a deep understanding of the Long Term Athlete Development Model, and have been able to apply it within your previous organizations/positions. You have worked and thrived in large, complex organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative and level-appropriate programs and pathways for swimmers who are learning to swim and developing their techniques.
  • Lead and advocate for our Elementary Squads progress, in collaboration with the Head of Competitive Swimming
  • Be a champion for those who prefer to swim recreationally rather than competitively
  • Lead and manage the Eagle Club Swim School in collaboration with the Swim School Manager.
  • Plan and manage fun, safe indoor dry-land activities in case of inclement weather
  • Set up and run swimmers evaluation sessions (face-to-face or virtual) to ensure appropriate team placement
  • Manage related day-to-day communications with coaches, parents, and other stakeholders
  • Train and lead coaches who are implementing your programs
  • Actively participate in EAA or Swim Program team meetings
  • Assist in maintaining Eagle Club Swimming records and website content
  • Actively seek and advocate for additional opportunities for level-appropriate meets and competitions
  • Work closely with the Singapore American School Aquatics Coordinator and senior coaching staff to plan and manage swimmers pathways, scheduling, logistics, and staffing
  • Work closely with the Eagle Activities and Athletics Office for community-wide communications and swimmer registrations
  • Support fellow coaching team members to achieve their professional best and to achieve a positive and inclusive working environment
  • Set up and manage age-appropriate holiday Swim Camps when required

Required Coaching Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of full-time swim coaching experience or swim teaching equivalent
  • ASCA level 3 or NROC level 2 and technical swimming level 2 or equivalent
  • Be able to coach different level/age team swimmers
  • Be able to train and develop adult coaches
  • Current knowledge in technique development and stroke correction
  • Qualified in First Aid (certification training available for the right candidate)

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proficient with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
  • Familiar with CHQ or SchoolsBuddy (Training will be provided)
  • Proficient with Hytek Meet/Team Manager software
  • Experienced with Colorado Gen7 Timing systems (or similar)
  • Have spoken and written English at a professional level

Required SAS Health, Safety, and Safeguarding Protocols:

  • Ensure that program areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor or the person responsible for those items at your site.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to managing visitors and guests at our facilities.
  • Complete all child safeguarding training as required.

Work Schedule:

  • Work schedule shall be set by the Eagle Club Swimming Coordinator in conjunction with the SAS Eagle Activities and Athletics office, and it will be structured to ensure smooth overall program operations.
