The Opportunity

Our client is a premier global agri-commodity merchant with an annual turnover exceeding US$3 billion. They specialize in trading and processing more than 30 commodities, including pulses, grains, oilseeds, animal feed, edible nuts, and sugar, across a network of 50 countries. In recent years, the company has expanded its focus to include the development of innovative plant-based ingredients and products. They are currently seeking a highly experienced Dry Bulk Chartering Manager in Singapore.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead voyage chartering for dry bulk vessels, securing competitive freight rates and Charter Party terms for agri-commodity cargoes.
  • Collaborate closely with internal traders to align freight strategies with sales and procurement activities.
  • Select appropriate vessel sizes across the handy to panamax spectrum based on cargo type, route, and market conditions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with ship owners, brokers, and chartering counterparts to support business development.
  • Monitor market trends and provide actionable intelligence to support pricing and risk decisions.
  • Oversee post-fixture processes including laytime calculations, demurrage settlement, and dispute resolution.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, or other relevant disciplines
  • 1015 years of progressive dry bulk chartering experience, preferably with exposure to grains, pulses, or oilseeds
  • Strong knowledge of chartering markets and vessel types across the Handy to Panamax range
  • Proven ability to work closely with trading teams in a fast-paced, commercial environment
  • Established network of industry contacts including ship owners, brokers, and cargo interests
  • Solid understanding of voyage and time charter party contracts, freight calculations, and post-fixture operations
  • Familiarity with both bulk and containerized shipping is an advantage
