Job Title: DP Technical Superintendent (Electrical)
We are seeking a DP Technical Superintendent (Electrical) to join our ship management team in Singapore. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical management of assigned vessels, with strong focus on electrical systems and DP systems.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, thefollowing:
Electrical, DP and Technical Management
- Oversee the technical management of assigned vessels, with strong focus on electrical systems, DP systems, automation, navigation, communication, and other shipboard electronic equipment.
- Ensure all electrical, DP, and related technical systems are maintained in accordance with planned maintenance requirements, make recommendations, class requirements, and operational needs
- Monitor vessel technical performance and support troubleshooting of electrical, electronic, control, and DP-related failures.
- Provide technical guidance to vessel teams on electrical and DP-related maintenance, repairs, breakdown response, and system reliability.
- Support and supervise repairs, overhauls, dry-docking works, and service jobs relating to electrical, DP, control, automation, and associated vessel systems.
- Participate in DP trials, FMEA activities, annual trials, audits, and follow-up actions where required.
- Liaise with makers, service providers, shipyards, Class, and clients on electrical and DP-related matters.
Safety, Compliance and Incident Support
- Support investigations into machinery, electrical, and DP-related incidents or failures, including root cause analysis and corrective action follow-up.
- Participate in emergency response activities, management reviews, and safety-related initiatives as required.
- Support audits, inspections, risk assessments, and Management of Change (MOC) processes for assigned vessels.
- Ensure assigned vessels remain compliant with Class, Flag State, Port State, statutory, and client technical requirements.
Operations and Budget Control
- Ensure assigned vessels meet operational and technical obligations safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and monitor vessel repair and maintenance budgets, with focus on cost-effective technical solutions.
- Monitor vessel operating costs, repairs, service attendance, and spare part usage to support cost control and uptime.
- Track and follow up on deficiencies arising from inspections, audits, surveys, and client visits until closure.
Procurement and Vendor Coordination
- Support procurement of electrical, electronic, DP, and technical spare parts, services, and repairs for assigned vessels.
- Source, evaluate, and coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Review quotations and recommend suitable technical solutions in line with vessel requirements and budgets.
Documentation and Vessel Support
- Ensure vessel technical records, manuals, drawings, certificates, service reports, and equipment documentation are properly maintained and updated.
- Maintain proper records for electrical, DP, and technical service history of assigned vessels.
- Conduct vessel visits, inspections, and attend vessels or shipyards when required.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of shore-based experience in a similar technical role.
- Prior experience as a Technical Superintendent managing DP2/DP3 vessels is essential
- Qualification: Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronics Engineering)/ Marine Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of vessel machinery systems, maintenance practices, DP operation/maintenance and maritime regulations.
- Willingness to travel internationally for vessel inspections and maintenance whenever required.
- Willingness to work outside regular business hours as required, to support vessel's across multiple time zones.
- The salary will be commensurate with experience.
