A leading international law firm is seeking an Associate to join its Dispute Resolution practice spanning Singapore and Tokyo. The team is a highly regarded international arbitration practice, handling high-profile commercial, investor-state, and treaty disputes for multinational clients and sovereign states across major arbitral institutions (including ICSID, ICC, SIAC, JCAA, and LCIA). The role is client-facing, with close involvement in Japan-related and cross-border matters, and offers flexibility to be based in either Singapore or Tokyo.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise and represent clients in international arbitration and cross-border commercial disputes, including treaty and investor-state matters.
- Draft and review pleadings, submissions, and advisory memoranda for complex, multi-jurisdictional cases.
- Conduct legal research and provide strategic input on high-value disputes.
- Liaise directly with Japanese and international clients, co-counsel, and arbitral institutions to support effective case management.
- Work closely with partners and counsel across the Singapore and Tokyo offices on multi-jurisdictional matters.
Requirements
- 3-6 years PQE gained in commercial disputes and/or international arbitration practices.
- Excellent pedigree with solid training gained from a reputable law firm
- Prior experience in handling complex, high-value cross border disputes
- Based in Singapore or Tokyo (open to either)
- Proficient in Japanese preferred - client-facing role
- Proactive and adaptable, with an interest in building a career in the broader Asia-Pacific arbitration market.
