ROLE SUMMARY
The Director, Supply Chain Operations (SCO), is responsible for defining and driving regional sourcing strategies, leading the supplier ecosystem, and delivering category performance across designated clusters and regions within the Packaging category. The role has overall accountability for aligning sourcing strategy with business objectives, ensuring consistent execution across markets, and delivering sustained value across cost, supply resilience, sustainability, and innovation.
The Director serves as the senior interface for strategic suppliers and key stakeholders, building and managing executive-level partnerships that enable reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery to the customer's system.
This role defines and leads category strategies across key packaging materials (e.g., paperboard, plastics, inks), driving cost optimization, supplier consolidation, and long-term capability development. The Director establishes procurement policies, governance frameworks, and risk management strategies, ensuring sourcing decisions align with enterprise priorities and deliver competitive advantage.
In addition, the role partners closely with cross-functional leadership-including Packaging Development, Global Sourcing Services, Quality, Compliance, and Commercial teams-to ensure alignment of sourcing strategy, product commercialization, and supply chain execution across markets. The Director is accountable for overall category financial performance and long-term value creation, while building organizational capability and driving operational excellence across regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Category Leadership
- Define and lead category strategies across regions, including cost optimization, sustainability, supplier consolidation, andlong-term value creation
- Establish procurement strategies, policies, and governance frameworks to ensure alignment with business objectives and best value delivery
- Translate enterprise and customer objectives into forward-looking sourcing strategies that drive competitive advantage
- Ensure effective deployment of category strategy through regional teams, driving consistency and performance outcomes across markets
Strategic Supplier Management & Sourcing Leadership
- Define and lead the regional supplier ecosystem, including strategic supplier selection, capability alignment, andlong-term partnership development
- Build and manageexecutive-level supplier relationships to drive performance, innovation, and investment alignment
- Lead major sourcing initiatives and high-value negotiations
- Oversee supplier performance frameworks to drive continuous improvement across cost, service, quality, and innovation
Financial & Cost Management
- Own end-to-end category financial performance, including budgets, cost optimization, pricing strategy, and forecasting
- Drive value creation initiatives across regions, ensuring delivery of cost savings and long-term financial benefits
- Provide oversight of pricing governance, spend visibility, and financial performance tracking
Risk Management, Governance & Compliance
- Establish and lead procurement governance frameworks, policies, and operating standards
- Define and drive supply chain risk and resilience strategies, including supplier diversification, contingency frameworks, and long-term mitigation planning
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical sourcing, and operational requirements
Operating Model, Technology & S2CEnablement
- Set direction for sourcing technology and digital enablement strategies to support regional execution and performance visibility
- Oversee the effectiveness and governance of Source-to-Contract (S2C) processes, including contract lifecycle, pricing, and supplier performance management
- Partner with technology teams to drive continuous improvement and evolution of sourcing systems and tools
Cross-functional & StakeholderLeadership
- Lead cross-functionalalignment across Product Development, Quality, Commercial, Finance, and Operations to ensure sourcing strategies support business and customer outcomes
- Serve as the senior interface with customers and key stakeholders on sourcing strategy, supply continuity, and performance
- Influence enterprise decision-making, balancing trade-offs across cost, service, risk, and innovation
Organizational Leadership &Capability Development
- Lead, develop, and coach the SCO organization, building capability in category management, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing
- Drive a high-performanceculture focused on accountability, delivery, and continuous improvement
- Establish talent development and succession strategies aligned to future business needs
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Leadership Experience: Significant experience (typically 15+ years) in procurement, supply chain, or strategic sourcing, with a proven track record of leading regional or global categories and delivering enterprise-level outcomes
- Strategic & Market Insight: Exceptional ability to assess market dynamics, anticipate trends, and develop long-termsourcing strategies aligned with business and customer needs
- Executive Negotiation & Influence: Advanced negotiation skills with demonstrated success in leading complex, high-value negotiations and influencing senior stakeholders and supplier executives
- Financial & Business Acumen: Strong commercial and financial expertise, with accountability for category financial performance, cost optimization, and value creation
- Analytical & Decision-Making Capability: Ability to leverage data, insights, and performance metrics to drive strategic decisions and continuous improvement at scale
- Stakeholder & Ecosystem Leadership: Proven ability to build and manage senior-level relationships across suppliers, customers, and internal functions, influencing enterprise-wide outcomes
- Organizational Leadership & Capability Building: Strong experience in building and developinghigh-performing teams and organizational capability
- Governance, Risk & Compliance Expertise: Deep understanding of procurement governance, supply chain risk management, and compliance frameworks
- Technology & Digital Enablement: Experience leveraging sourcing and procurement technologies to drive scalability, performance visibility, and operational excellence
- Qualifications: Bachelor'sdegree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field required advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) are strongly preferred
