Job Description

Job Summary:

The role supports the VP of Stakeholder Engagement, APAC in developing and executing the Asia Pacific (APAC) Regional Engagement Plan, in line with the ICANN Strategic Plan. Managing a team, the role will coordinate the APAC Regional Engagement Plan's execution, partnering relevant teams in ICANN as well as external stakeholders.

The role requires strong interpersonal, organizational, planning, analytical, communication and outreach related skills to fulfill multiple responsibilities needed for the engagement of all regional stakeholders and successful delivery of the organization's strategic objectives.

The role also supports global engagement operations and planning through leading the development and implementation of ICANN's community relationship management system.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

Regional Engagement and Project Management

  • Supports the VP of Stakeholder Engagement, APAC in developing and executing the APAC Regional Plan in consultation with the APAC community, in line with the ICANN Strategic Plan.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and coordination with the relevant teams in ICANN to implement the APAC Regional Plan.
  • Lead regular reviews and evaluation of achievements, as well as analysis of information and data for the purpose of identifying gaps and trends.
  • Manage key projects and initiatives such as the APAC DNS Forum, the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA), and other regional initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships, as well as enhance engagement and outreach efforts by seeking input and feedback from regional stakeholders.
  • Lead efforts to open engagement channels, forge new initiatives, and establish relationships with new stakeholders.
  • Assess challenges facing engagement efforts in the region and take necessary steps to address them.
  • Represent ICANN in external engagement, speaking at public policy fora, tech industry gatherings and Internet community meetings.
  • Advance interests through public education of ICANN, and actively communicate ICANN's policies and processes to stakeholders.
  • Manage the Stakeholder Engagement team based in Singapore.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Global Engagement Operations

  • Support the VP of Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) on global engagement operations and planning, such as identifying trends and gaps in regional engagement activities with the use of the community relationship management system (ICANN CES)
  • Lead the development and implementation of ICANN CES based on GSE's operational/business requirements
  • Other duties as assigned or requested

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including ability to prioritize and manage competing demands on time
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills, ability to communicate complex and potentially controversial information to internal and external audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multicultural environment with respect for diversity
  • Entrepreneurial drive with respect to developing and implementing engagement programs
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments; self-starter that can use good judgment and resourcefulness to take action in the absence of clear guidance
  • Keen interest in the Domain Name System, Internet governance, engagement across different stakeholder groups, relationship management, and communications
  • Good understanding of ICANN's mission and its multistakeholder model
  • Proficiency using MS Office and other platforms
  • Proficiency using Salesforce system

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree preferred), preferably in Public Policy,
  • International Affairs, Communications, Computer Science, Information Technology,
  • Engineering or computer related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of direct related work experience with at least three years of people management experience in a multinational business, intergovernmental or international organization; prior management experience may be required. Prior experience of working in Internet policy and/or technical operations preferred.

Languages:

  • Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required.
  • Business competency in at least one additional language – preferably any of the official United Nations languages

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Comfort level with an international work environment that requires availability at times outside normal business hours
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment
