A Brief Overview

Performs pricing, modeling, risk analysis, structuring, and other activities related to specific new business development opportunities for the Financial Solutions business lines in APAC. Coordinates with the business development staff to determine client needs and objectives, understand and analyze client information, and design terms and structures of transactions to meet those needs and objectives. Document and communicate risk exposure in potential transactions.

What You Will Do

  • Perform the pricing, modeling, risk analysis, and structuring activities on new or proposed transactions, or amendments to existing transactions, for the Financial Solutions business lines in a timely manner consistent with applicable standards as it relates to FS business in Asia.
  • Assess and communicate risk exposure in potential transactions and prepare documentation of these risks in detailed risk analysis reports.
  • Review and provide feedback, in a timely manner, the work – including data, assumptions, modelling, sensitivity testing and documentation – of other actuaries as appropriate across all FS business lines and specifically on projects in the relevant area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the business development staff to proactively determine client needs and objectives, understand and analyze client information, and design terms and structures of transactions to meet those needs and objectives.
  • Develop and improve the company's pricing function and ensure appropriate procedures and processes are followed within the team.
  • Lead ad-hoc department projects as needed.
  • Assist risk management and operations personnel with monitoring experience of in-force treaties.
  • Mentor and coach junior members of the team to assume increasing levels of responsibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Math, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or related field. Required
  • 10+ years of actuarial experience in Insurance/Reinsurance/Consulting. Required
  • FSA, FIA, FSA, FIAJ or Equivalent Certification. Required
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, third sector, longevity, and/or annuity products. Required
  • Ability to take ownership in projects and drive them to completion. Required
  • Advanced experience with actuarial modeling software. Required
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received. Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines. Required
  • Advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills. Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions. Required
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives. Advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously. Required
  • Skills in customer relationship management and change management. Advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers. Required
  • Knowledge of key financial reporting, accounting, and solvency regimes, including (but not limited to) US GAAP (including FAS 97, FAS 91, FAS 133, FAS 157, and SOP 03-1), US Statutory, and US tax; IFRS; MCEV / EV / EEV; and Solvency II. Preferred
  • PC and technical skills including (but not limited to) spreadsheets (VBA), database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), statistical programs (R or Python), and one or more computing languages (e.g. Python, C/C++). Preferred
  • Expertise in MoSes, TAS10, TAS9.5, and/or AXIS. Preferred
  • Understanding of asset modeling and ALM techniques, including derivatives, and capital markets approaches. Ability to challenge and enhance our analytical capabilities. Preferred
  • Knowledge of life insurance, health insurance, longevity, and/or annuity products. Ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures. Preferred
