Job Description

Job Requirements:

  • The Director of Nursing provides support and assistance to the Chief Operating Officer in sustaining the standards of nursing practice ensuring safe, high quality, efficient and cost- effective care is delivered to residents and their families.
  • The DON is also responsible for the overall administration of the nursing service by the nursing team both internally and externally. This includes establishment of standards, objectives, divisional strategies to meet the Sree Narayana Mission Nursing Home's (SNMNH) goals.
  • The Director of Nursing provides strategic leadership, governance, and oversight of all nursing and allied health services within the Home, ensuring the delivery of safe, evidence-based, resident-centred, and cost-effective care.
  • The incumbent is accountable for establishing and maintaining high standards of clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance through systematic audits, outcome monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Director oversees the analysis of resident care trends and institutional needs to inform service planning and resource optimisation.
  • As the professional head of nursing, the Director leads workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and professional development of nursing and allied health staff. This includes ensuring updated policies, procedures, competency frameworks, structured orientation programmes, and clear career pathways to attract, develop, and retain competent healthcare professionals.
  • The role fosters a culture of accountability, ownership, and clinical excellence across all levels of nursing services, while advising senior management on nursing-related policy, strategic planning, and organisational development matters.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters-Degree in health-related subject or equivalent.
  • Advanced Diploma in a Nursing speciality.
  • At least two years of nursing experience in a similar position in a medium or large-sized Nursing Home or at least 10 years of nursing experience as a Senior Nurse Manager in an acute, community hospital or nursing home. Preference will be given to candidates with Nursing Home experience.
  • Registered Nurse with current SNB Registration.
  • Valid BCLS + AED licence.
  • Minimum basic certificate in Infection Control Prevention and Control.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues in nursing and Nursing Home care.
  • Good understanding of principles and practices to deliver reliable and safe services.
  • Proven project management skills, with evidence of delivering large-scale projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and effectively managing change in large complex environments.
