Our client, a well-established European Multinational Corporation, is seeking a commercially astute and strategic Director of Finance & Operations to lead the finance and operational functions for its Thailand business.
Reporting to the Country Managing Director with a functional reporting line to the Regional Finance leadership, this role serves as a key member of the local leadership team, providing strategic financial guidance, ensuring operational excellence, maintaining robust governance, and driving sustainable business growth.
The Director of Finance & Operations will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, compliance, working capital, supply chain governance, ERP optimization, and business performance while partnering closely with regional and global stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Business Partnership
- Serve as the strategic finance partner to the Country Managing Director and regional leadership, providing financial insights to support business growth and profitability.
- Lead financial planning, business performance reviews, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Develop financial strategies that align with regional and global business objectives.
- Support commercial and operational teams with financial analysis, investment evaluations, pricing, and business case development.
Accounting, Financial Reporting & Controls
- Lead the full spectrum of finance operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, Revenue Recognition, Inventory Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Expense Management.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with local statutory requirements and Group reporting standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with reporting timelines and internal control requirements.
- Prepare insightful variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior-year performance.
- Reconcile local statutory accounts with Group reporting requirements and support consolidation activities.
- Coordinate annual external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors and professional advisors.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with Thai statutory, tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a robust internal control environment aligned with Group governance and compliance standards.
- Develop, review, and strengthen financial policies, operating procedures, and control frameworks.
- Proactively identify and mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Support internal and external audit activities and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
Financial Planning & Performance Management
- Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Monitor financial and operational KPIs, providing meaningful analysis and recommendations to management.
- Drive continuous improvements in profitability, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Support regional finance initiatives and strategic transformation projects.
Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational requirements and business growth.
- Optimize receivables, payables, inventory levels, and cash conversion cycles.
- Develop accurate cash flow forecasts and monitor treasury performance.
- Ensure effective financial discipline across the business.
Credit & Inventory Management
- Establish and oversee customer credit policies, credit limits, collection strategies, and bad debt management.
- Drive improvements in receivables collection and credit risk management.
- Oversee inventory planning, valuation, provisioning, and inventory control processes.
- Partner with commercial and supply chain teams to optimize inventory turnover and stock availability.
Operations, Supply Chain & ERP Leadership
- Provide financial oversight and governance for procurement, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain operations.
- Ensure compliance with Group supply chain policies and operational standards.
- Lead ERP optimization initiatives and digital transformation projects to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and process automation.
- Drive cross-functional process improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and customer service.
- Develop and implement best practices across finance and operational processes.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance and operations teams.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and ethical business conduct.
- Build strong relationships with regional and global finance teams, external advisors, banks, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Represent Finance as a trusted advisor to the local leadership team and regional stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred. MBA is an advantage.
- Minimum 12–15 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a multinational environment.
- Experience working in a European or global multinational company is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IFRS, statutory reporting, taxation, internal controls, and corporate governance.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, business partnering, working capital management, and financial planning.
- Hands-on experience leading ERP implementation or optimization projects (JD Edwards preferred).
- Exposure to supply chain finance, procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, improve business processes, and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Fluent English is essential; Thai language capability is advantageous.
