Job Summary
Lead and manage the Regional Programme Political Dialogue Asia, driving strategic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and policy analysis to advance regional cooperation and political dialogue across Asia.
Responsibilities
- Manage the regional programme for Asia, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective resource utilization
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee local, regional, and international programme activities to achieve impactful outcomes
- Conceptualize, budget, organize, and implement events that engage key stakeholders and promote programme objectives
- Identify and engage partners and participants at the level of regional organizations to foster collaboration
- Develop and maintain meaningful collaborative relationships with political stakeholders to enhance programme reach
- Provide in-depth policy analyses and briefings to inform decision-making and strategic planning
- Conduct research on current political developments relevant to the programme region to guide activities
- Coordinate effectively with KAS headquarters and country/regional offices to ensure programme coherence and support
- Lead and support a diverse team of local and foreign staff members, promoting professionalism and teamwork under pressure
Required competencies and certifications
- At least ten years of active experience as a policy advisor or analyst
- Comprehensive knowledge of the German and European political systems
- Extensive understanding of political developments in the Asian region
- Established personal network of political stakeholders within the region
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Asia
- Proficiency in English and German speaking and writing skills to manage corporate Pastis accounting software and liaise with headquarters in Germany
- Strong communication, cooperation, teamwork, and leadership skills to manage programme demands effectively
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Knowledge of the Asian cultural sphere
- Proficiency in additional languages, especially Asian languages
- Demonstrated socio-political commitment and alignment with European democratic values guiding KAS
- Creativity, reliability, and professionalism in leading diverse teams
