The IT Solution and Engineering Director is responsible for designing, developing, integrating and supporting software, digital, AI-enabled and enterprise application solutions that meet business needs, improving operational efficiency and supporting RWS's digital transformation objectives. The scope of responsibility includes technical leadership, solution ownership, governance and strategic direction for the Solution and Engineering team.
This function covers application development, solution architecture, system integration, platform modernization, cloud services, automation, AI-enabled capabilities, delivery governance and continuous improvement across business and enterprise technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Solution Design & Development:
• Design, develop, implement, and support business technology solutions.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Ensure solutions meet functional, performance, security, and operational requirements.
• Drive adoption of software engineering best practices, reusable design patterns, and automation.
• Govern and continuously improve solution development standards across the organization.
2. Architecture & System Integration:
• Design and govern application, integration, platform, and data architectures.
• Ensure alignment to enterprise architecture principles and technology standards.
• Promote scalable, secure, resilient, and reusable architecture patterns.
• Drive modernization of legacy systems and adoption of cloud-native architectures.
• Review and approve critical technology design decisions.
3. Delivery & Operational Excellence:
• Deliver technology initiatives using Agile, DevSecOps, and modern engineering practices.
• Manage scope, schedule, quality, risk, and resource utilization.
• Drive automation, productivity improvements, and operational efficiency.
• Establish and monitor delivery performance metrics.
• Promote operational stability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
4. Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate effectively with business, technology, and external stakeholders.
• Translate business objectives into actionable technology solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
• Facilitate governance forums, prioritization discussions, and decision-making processes.
• Communicate technology risks, progress, and opportunities effectively.
5. People Leadership & Talent Development:
• Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and accountability.
• Coach, mentor, and develop engineering talent.
• Support workforce planning and capability development initiatives.
• Drive succession planning and leadership development.
• Build high-performing and future-ready engineering teams.
6. Innovation & Technology Strategy
• Identify, evaluate, and adopt emerging technologies and industry practices.
• Drive innovation initiatives across software engineering, automation, cloud, data, and AI capabilities.
• Develop technology roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Contribute to transformation initiatives and modernization programs.
• Promote continuous innovation and technology leadership.
