Job Description

Meta is seeking an experienced communications leader to spearhead our communications efforts across Southeast Asia, a vibrant and rapidly growing region. This role will cover key markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand.Based in our Singapore office, you will lead a talented team of communications professionals distributed across the region. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that enhance our corporate reputation and position us as a leader in the technology industry. You will work in close collaboration with cross-functional partners in sales, marketing, policy, and legal to build and sustain a positive narrative for Meta and its products in Southeast Asia. You will have a proven track record of leading and building high profile national and regional communications programs, managing complex corporate and reputational issues, and navigating wide-ranging media landscapes across Southeast Asia. You are a strategic thinker, an exceptional writer, an experienced people manager with a passion for our mission and technologies.This role is based in Singapore and reports into the Director, Communications, APAC based in Singapore.

Director, Head of Communications, Southeast Asia Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a distributed team of communications professionals based across Southeast Asia, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team
  • Lead the delivery of a long-term, integrated communications strategy that supports Meta's corporate, product, platform, business, and policy objectives across the Southeast Asia region
  • Deliver executive counsel and strategic advice to cross-functional partners and company leadership on a broad range of communications matters, from proactive campaigns and media engagement strategy to crisis and issues management
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of Meta and its family of apps through strategic media engagement, compelling storytelling, and effective issues management across all six markets
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media, influencers, and other stakeholders across Southeast Asia
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the media landscape, regional nuances, and regulatory environments across Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand
  • Effectively manage the communications budget for the Southeast Asia region, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve strategic goals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of professional in-house or agency communications experience, with Southeast Asia region experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing a team of communications professionals, including experience leading distributed or cross-country teams
  • Communication and story-telling skills with a track record of crafting compelling narratives for a variety of audiences across multiple markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of the media landscape, local sensitivities, and operating environments across Southeast Asia
  • Proven experience to lead a team in a fast-paced, pressurised, dynamic, and deadline-driven environment, with experience in making strategic judgment calls and demonstratable negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience balancing multiple competing priorities across markets, with the flexibility to pivot and reprioritise quickly as needs arise
  • A collaborative leader with experience in setting up processes for project and time management for their team
