The Opportunity
A globally recognized engineering consultancy, consistently ranked as a leader in critical facilities and data centres, is establishing its Singapore office as a strategic hub for Southeast Asia. We are seeking a Director, Electrical Engineering to join our founding team. This is a rare, high-impact role for a registered Professional Engineer (PE) who aspires to lead complex technical designs while shaping a new regional practice from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design Delivery
- Lead the end-to-end design of electrical building services, including LV/HV power distribution, UPS systems, standby generators, and lightning protection.
- Prepare and review advanced electrical engineering calculations, short circuit and coordination studies, and technical specifications.
- Act as the Qualified Person (QP) for electrical submissions, signing and stamping drawings as a PEB-registered Professional Engineer.
- Manage all statutory submissions to EMA, BCA, SCDF, and SP Group.
- Lead technical coordination and quality assurance across multi-disciplinary project teams to ensure global standards are met.
Practice & Team Leadership
- Mentor junior engineers and play a pivotal role in recruiting and developing the future electrical engineering team in Singapore.
- Contribute to the creation of internal engineering standards, design guidelines, and QA frameworks for the regional office.
Project & Client Engagement
- Serve as the lead technical advisor for clients, architects, and regulatory authorities on complex electrical engineering matters.
Requirements
Professional Qualification
- Registered Professional Engineer (Electrical) with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore is mandatory at the point of hire.
Consultancy Experience
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience exclusively within M&E design consultancies (e.g., Arup, AECOM, WSP, Meinhardt, RED Engineering, Jacobs, Beca, etc.).
Design Focused
- Strong emphasis on hands-on design and engineering consultancy.
- Candidates with a primary background in installations, facility management, or maintenance will not be considered.
Sector Expertise
- Proven track record in Data Centre or Mission-Critical electrical design, including redundancy configurations (N+1, 2N) and high-reliability systems.
Technical Tools
- Proficiency in Revit MEP (highly preferred), AutoCAD, and analysis tools such as ETAP or DIALux.
Standards
- Deep knowledge of SS 638 and Singapore regulatory requirements (EMA/SCDF/BCA).
