What you'll do

The Airwallex Infra team is a group of highly skilled, innovative, and collaborative professionals dedicated to creating and maintaining a cutting-edge, secure, and scalable infrastructure that supports our cross-border payment solutions. The team brings together experts in Kubernetes, service mesh, cloud platforms, and middlewares, all working seamlessly to ensure the highest levels of performance, reliability, and security. Committed to constant improvement, the Cloud Infra team is pivotal to Airwallex's mission to empower businesses worldwide by providing a robust and efficient financial technology platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Development: Design and implement new cloud infrastructure services, tools, and platforms. Leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Kubernetes and Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources, ensuring a programmatic approach that prioritizes speed, security, and efficiency.
  • Security Compliance and Audits: Ensure that all cloud infrastructure complies with industry-standard security protocols and company policies. Regularly conduct security audits to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring that our infrastructure meets strict financial regulatory standards.
  • Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud spending. Implement cost-saving measures without compromising on performance or security, utilizing tools and practices such as cost allocation tagging, reserved instances, and scalable architectures.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery plans, including regular testing and updates. Ensure that business continuity mechanisms are in place and effective, minimizing downtime and data loss in case of unexpected incidents.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Share your expertise with the team, mentoring colleagues and guiding them in skill development to enhance the overall capabilities of the Cloud Infrastructure team.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Advocate for and implement sustainability practices within the infrastructure domain. Explore and integrate solutions that reduce the environmental impact of our operations, aligning with the company's sustainability goals.

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Over 2 years of experience in high-performance, distributed systems.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in working on building Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes, K8s Operator development, and containerization technologies.
  • Expertise in Golang, Python or other programming languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve potential issues and vulnerabilities in a proactive manner.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and share knowledge and expertise with others.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in writing custom kubernetes operators
  • Experience with Istio service mesh
  • Experience with GitOps, such as ArgoCD
  • Relevant certifications in Kubernetes, or cloud platforms (e.g., Aliyun, GCP, AWS or Azure).
