Job Summary
This position involves managing kitchen operations during shifts, from food preparation to final production, while maintaining food quality and timely service under the guidance of the Chef or Sous Chef.
Responsibilities
- Manage a designated kitchen station by setting up and stocking it properly before and during shifts
- Prepare mise en place following established guidelines to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Plan and produce a variety of baked goods including bread, desserts, pastries, and cakes with consistent quality and presentation
- Maintain sufficient stock levels of baking supplies to support continuous production
- Monitor and uphold food preparation standards, hygiene, sanitation, and decoration to meet quality requirements
- Evaluate the quality and suitability of outsourced food suppliers when required
- Inspect ingredients to ensure freshness and quality before use
- Follow instructions and complete additional duties assigned by the Head Chef promptly and accurately
- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards assigned tasks and collaborate effectively with kitchen team members
Required competencies and certifications
- Minimum culinary certificate or equivalent qualification
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in a kitchen or bakery environment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience working in a professional kitchen setting is advantageous
