Job Summary
Lead the design team to develop and improve mold and tool designs, support toolroom operations, manage costs, and introduce new technologies while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire design department to deliver innovative mold and tool design solutions
- Develop and refine tool concepts, including modifications, to meet design requirements
- Participate in tool quotation and RFQ feasibility discussions to support accurate costing and project planning
- Lead and contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and tooling layout development to optimize production efficiency
- Support toolroom operations and troubleshoot tooling issues to maintain smooth workflow
- Plan and implement tool improvements based on failure analysis and feedback from customers and internal engineers until approval
- Manage costing for mold bases, materials, and standard components to control project budgets
- Introduce and develop new technologies daily to enhance team capabilities and design quality
- Propose and execute continuous improvement initiatives to increase design and production effectiveness
- Collaborate with production personnel to identify and implement production-related improvements
- Coordinate and source external support to enhance toolroom capabilities and ensure ISO documentation compliance for the design team
- Ensure workplace health and safety by adhering to EHS policies and cooperating with management and colleagues on EHS initiatives
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 5 years experience in tool design and management
