Deputy Managing Director - Chemicals/Advanced Materials Industry
A well-established international chemicals organization is appointing a Deputy Managing Director to support and complement the Managing Director function in Singapore. This is a strategic leadership role, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer based in China, and forms part of the company's long-term succession and regional growth strategy.
The role carries enterprise-wide accountability across commercial performance, operations, people leadership, and governance, with a strong mandate to ensure execution discipline while shaping future growth across Asia.
Role Mandate
The Deputy Managing Director will act as the CEO's trusted representative in the region, balancing operational rigor with strategic foresight. The position requires a leader who can operate confidently at Board and shareholder level, while remaining deeply connected to on-the-ground business realities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership across regional business operations, ensuring alignment with global strategy and financial objectives
- Drive sustainable growth across key chemical segments through disciplined commercial execution and portfolio development
- Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on strategy, capital allocation, and long-range planning
- Oversee P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management across the regional platform
- Lead and develop senior management teams, fostering a high-performance and accountability-driven culture
- Ensure strong governance, compliance, and stakeholder management across regulatory, customer, and partner interfaces
- Act as a succession-ready leader capable of stepping into broader executive responsibilities as required
Requirements
- Proven senior leadership experience within the chemicals, specialty chemicals, or industrial materials sector
- Demonstrated track record managing multi-function, multi-country operations with full P&L accountability
- Strong commercial instincts combined with operational and financial discipline
- Experience working within matrixed, international organizations, reporting to global leadership
- Credible, composed leadership style with the ability to influence at Board, shareholder, and senior stakeholder level
- Comfortable operating in confidential, high-trust environments requiring discretion and judgement
Location
- Based in Singapore, with regional and international travel as required
