Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to lead, deliver agile project initiatives and drive product development for enterprise systems projects. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance stakeholder management with hands-on project delivery, working with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet user needs whilst maintaining alignment with organisational objectives.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional teams in delivering complex enterprise systems projects using agile methodologies.
- Establish project roadmaps, define sprint goals, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs for in-house development initiatives.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews, whilst continuously improving team processes and practices.
- Own the product vision and strategy for enterprise systems, working closely with stakeholders to define product requirements and prioritise the product backlog.
- Make data-driven decisions to optimise features for platforms such as intranet portals, web applications, and operational systems, ensuring alignment with user expectations and organisational goals.
- Manage relationships with diverse stakeholders across the organisation, including internal departments and management team.
- Communicate project progress, manage expectations across multiple platforms, and negotiate priorities to ensure stakeholder buy-in.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture through guidance on agile best practices and professional development support.
- Manage resource planning and capacity management across multiple enterprise systems projects to ensure optimal team performance.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field from a recognised university.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in agile project management and product management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex enterprise systems projects such as intranet platforms, web applications, or operational portals.
- Proficiency in agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban, along with familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms. Relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Product Owner certification, or Project Management Professional (PMP) will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at various organisational levels, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle occasional tight deadlines and manage project constraints in a dynamic environment.
- Developer experience or technical background, and experience with enterprise system architecture, web application development, or portal technologies will be advantageous. Experience working in government or public sector environments will be useful.
