Lloyd's List has an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Editor/Analyst - APAC, working in an editorial team that spans the world
This is a full-time, permanent role and will report to the APAC Editor, Lloyd's List.
Role Profile
- Develop Lloyd's List's maritime expertise in Asia
- Help set the agenda of Lloyd's List's coverage of international shipping through daily insight, features and analysis.
- Work closely with the APAC Editor and Editor in Chief in creating and developing high quality, primarily data-led analysis to the high standards of Lloyd's List's editorial guidelines.
- Raise the profile of Lloyd's List Intelligence through representation at events and conferences
- This role is based on a balanced working model between home and our office in Singapore
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the APAC Editor and Editor in Chief to take a leading role in the strategy, planning and creation of daily insight and analysis, special reports, webinars, podcasts and other content formats
- Be a subject matter expert who is comfortable speaking authoritatively at Lloyd's List events, conferences, client briefings and at internal meetings, either as a presenter or moderator
- Create original content for Lloyd's List content channels, with a focus on the maritime sector in Asia
- Help manage and guide a local editorial team
- Utilising data, analytics and visualisation tools (like Tableau or Power BI) to draw insights and communicate findings
- Deputise for the APAC Editor and make editorial decisions, as and when required
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the commercial success of Lloyd's List Intelligence
- Support events on the editorial calendar
- Attend local and/or international news conferences, industry events, webinars, conference calls, when required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders
What we are looking for:
Essential
- A minimum of three years experience in senior level reporting, or in a similar role such as broker reporting, analyst or researcher in the maritime industry
- Knowledge of the shipping industry and how today's geopolitical landscape is reshaping global trade.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks daily and meet tight deadlines
- High proficiency in written and verbal English
- A team player and problem-solver who works collaboratively across the organisation
- Advanced communication skills to engage with both colleagues and industry C-suite executives
- Proficiency in MS office suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Desirable
- Strong analytical skills: Collecting, validating, managing, and analysing data from various primary and secondary sources
- Experience of being a speaker or presenter at events
- Proficiency with Content Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of media law
- Digital editing and production skills including data visualisations, audio and video
- Familiarity with data handling tools like SQL or Python
- An existing, broad network of industry contacts.
