STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Deputy Director (DD) oversees the research administrative matters for Research Office in support of the Hospital's effort in its research endeavours. Supervising the administration team of manager/ assistant manager / executives/senior executives and working closely with the operations team under the supervision of the Manager, the DD is responsible for the ensuring proper and efficient conduct of research within the hospital. He/she has oversight of the research legal, financial and compliance framework within the hospital.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Head, Research in identifying missions and opportunities for the development and growth of CGH research. Continuous engagement of and providing assistance to stakeholders in navigating the system. Set up principles and structure for the optimization of research infrastructure and resources in supporting research initiatives, collaborations and activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of research policies, research quality framework in accordance with the regulatory requirements, cluster policies/directives and industry practices.
- Working closely with the stakeholders, assist in planning, allocating and managing research budgets, from all sources including hospital, grantors, sponsors, etc, to ensure proper utilisation and accountability.
- Empower and motivate staff, resolve conflicts and foster a positive work environment.
- To initiate and lead the department in ad hoc activities which support the goals of the department and hospital.
- To participate as RIE committee member.
- To participate as JRIG secretariate member.
- To take on projects as assigned from time to time.
- Make recommendations for Head, Research's decisions on annual planning and budgeting exercise.
- Make decisions on new hire, project workflow and staff performance appraisal.
- Review audit reports, recommend corrective & preventive actions, and ensure they are put in place to address audit findings.
- Make recommendations for RIE Chairman's decisions on various RIE grants and initiative.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Medicine / Healthcare / Science / Management
- At least 15 years relevant experience in clinical research administration, with knowledge of hospital and/or research operational management
- Effective leadership skills
- Excellent working knowledge of research related regulations, including the Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA), Health Product (Clinical Trials) Regulations and ICH-GCP guidelines
