Job Description

Lead the Compute & Storage function within IT/OT Infrastructure, ensuring secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-effective compute, virtualisation, storage, directory services, and platform infrastructure supporting IT and OT systems.

What you'll do:

Infrastructure Strategy & Roadmap

  • Develop and maintain the Compute & Storage technology roadmap.
  • Drive platform modernisation initiatives including virtualisation, storage, Active Directory, backup/recovery, and infrastructure refresh programmes.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve resilience, efficiency, and business value.

Operations & Service Availability

  • Ensure availability, performance, and supportability of:
  • Windows and Unix/Linux platforms
  • Enterprise storage platforms
  • Virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix)
  • Active Directory services
  • Ensure integration with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Key Database Technologies (SAP, Oracle, Windows, Postgres etc)
  • Oversee operational support and transition of projects into BAU services
  • Lead team in automation efforts to improve effectiveness, compliance and efficiency

Project Delivery

Lead infrastructure projects such as: Storage technology refresh, VMware upgrade, Active Directory recovery and refresh, SAN infrastructure expansion, Data centre expansion and server refresh programmes support application infrastructure implementation, and migration projects.

Cybersecurity & Resilience

  • Ensure infrastructure complies with corporate cybersecurity and governance requirements.
  • Strengthen disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity capabilities.
  • Manage infrastructure vulnerabilities and lifecycle risks.
  • Support CII, IT and OT security requirements.

Capacity & Asset Management

  • Manage compute, storage, and virtualisation capacity planning.
  • Optimise infrastructure utilisation and resource allocation.
  • Establish visibility and reporting on infrastructure consumption and forecasting.

Vendor & Financial Management

  • Manage infrastructure budgets and CAPEX/OPEX planning.
  • Lead tenders, vendor evaluations, contract negotiations, and service performance reviews.
  • Ensure cost-effective infrastructure lifecycle management.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, mentor and develop the Compute & Storage team.
  • Establish technical standards and operational procedures.
  • Build technical capability and succession planning within the team.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams in I&OT, CIS, SPD and business users to deliver outcomes.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience in systems compute and storage implementation and operations, including supporting for large scale enterprise level implementations (with at least 2,000 users).
  • Experience with managing compliance and audit requirements, aligned with IT best practices, for critical enterprise level systems.
  • Relevant soft skills to collaborate, influence and engage with stakeholders, both technical and business.
