Defence Attorney (CIVIL/FAMILY/CRIMINAL)

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Defence Attorney to represent clients in criminal and/or civil defence matters. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal counsel, develop strong case strategies, and advocate effectively in court while maintaining the highest standards of professional ethics.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Litigation

• Manage general civil disputes, contractual claims, debt recovery, tort, and commercial litigation matters.

• Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, and interlocutory applications.

• Conduct legal research and advise clients on litigation strategy and risk exposure.

• Attend hearings, mediations, and trials.

Family Law

• Handle separation proceedings, custody and care & control matters, division of matrimonial assets, and maintenance claims.

• Conduct client consultations with empathy and professionalism.

• Draft court documents and attend case conferences and hearings in the Family Justice Courts.

Criminal Defence

• Represent clients in investigations, mentions, bail applications, mitigation pleas, and trials.

• Liaise with law enforcement authorities and prosecutors.

• Advise clients on procedural rights and defence strategy.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree.

• Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction and in good standing.

• 2-3 years of experience in criminal and/or civil defence practice
