Role Description The L1–L2 Smart Hands Engineer (Shift Work) is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore. This role involves providing hands-on support in the data center, including installing, racking, and cabling equipment; performing basic hardware checks; and assisting with troubleshooting under remote guidance from senior engineers.

The FieldOps Technician is responsible to:

1. Loopback Testing and Circuit Audits: Techs will perform loopback testing and circuit audits as per the project requirements.

2. Loopback Testing Scope of Work:

• Identify all network circuits that require loopback testing

• Set up test equipment to simulate traffic on each circuit

• Perform loopback testing on each identified circuit

• Isolate and troubleshoot any faults or issues detected during loopback testing

• Document all test results, including any faults or issues found

3. Circuit Audits Scope of Work:

• Conduct a physical inspection of all network circuits

• Verify that all network devices are properly configured and connected to the correct circuits

• Test the signal quality of each circuit

• Document all audit findings, including any discrepancies or issues found

• Remediate any issues found during the audit

4. Shift Work: Shift work is required, overtime and weekend work be available, as needed.

5. Safety Briefings: Conduct regular safety briefings to ensure techs are aware of potential hazards and follow safety protocols. 

Qualifications

  • Ability to work at heights, off ladders, in confined spaces.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Good color vision, ability to read small print, and recognize audible signals.
  • Foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, storage, networking) and data center operations, with hands-on experience in cabling, racking, and basic hardware support.
  • Ability to perform L1–L2 troubleshooting for common hardware and connectivity issues, including following runbooks and escalation procedures.
  • Comfort working in a shift-based environment, with flexibility for night, weekend, and holiday shifts, and strong time management skills.
  • Good communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams, and clear documentation skills for incidents, changes, and inventory.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to safety, security, and compliance protocols in a data center environment.
  • Relevant technical certification or course work (e.g., basic networking, hardware, or data center operations) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a data center, NOC, or field support role is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • PR/SG Citizen are preferred.
  • Can start immediately.

Experience:

● Preferred in testing and troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems (OTDR & PMLS).

● Preferred 1-3 years of fiber experience.

● Preferred data center installation experience.

● Preferred mechanical and fusion splice experience.

●Proficient with trade tools including screwdrivers, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight, gloves, punch tool, tone set, crimp tool, and Krone/3M/BIX tools.

Education:

• Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's degree in Electrical Egineering, IT, Network, or a related field.

• Professional certifications in IT infrastructure, sustainability (e.g., CISSP, PMP, or Green IT certifications) are an advantage.
