DB2 DBA Supporting Application
Contract Duration: 1 years (12 Months)

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support application databases, optimize database performance, and provide technical support across the application lifecycle. The ideal candidate will work closely with development and application teams to ensure database stability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and optimize SQL queries written by application developers to ensure performance efficiency and compliance with database standards.
- Support database design activities including table structures, indexes, and relationships for new features and enhancements.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues such as SQL errors, performance bottlenecks, and data integrity concerns.
- Manage and support database changes across development, testing, UAT, and production environments.
- Coordinate database object migrations and deployment activities throughout the application lifecycle.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures including tablespace reorganization, statistics updates, and buffer pool tuning.
- Provide guidance to developers on DB2 best practices, coding standards, and efficient query writing techniques.
- Support application testing activities including data refreshes, test data preparation, and database validation.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong academic background in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in DB2 database administration and application support.
- Hands-on experience in SQL performance tuning and database optimization.
- Experience with database migration, deployment, backup, and recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with DB2 database utilities and administration tools.
- Knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of VSAM and mainframe storage concepts is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Willingness to support after-office hours and weekend activities when required.
