Database Administrator (Oracle / Cloud) - Financial Services
Role Overview
We are hiring an experienced Database Administrator to support the resilience, performance, and availability of a mission-critical multi-platform database environment. This role sits within a global team and focuses on database administration, optimisation, support, and continuous improvement across development, testing, and production.
You will play a key role in performance tuning, high availability, incident support, patching, automation, and platform reliability within a 24/7 environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Oracle Exadata / Oracle database platforms in a high-availability environment.
- Manage database performance, capacity planning, tuning, backup/recovery, and failover readiness.
- Deliver patching, upgrades, security hardening, and lifecycle management .
- Provide L2/L3 production support , troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
- Partner with development, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure reliable database services.
- Contribute to monitoring, automation, observability, and operational tooling improvements.
- Support broader database technologies including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL platforms where required.
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and support compliance and change management standards.
Required
- Strong experience as an Oracle DBA supporting critical production systems.
- Expertise in Oracle Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN , and related technologies.
- Deep knowledge of Oracle performance tuning , including SQL tuning and diagnostic tools (AWR/ASH/ADDM).
- Experience with backup/recovery, upgrades, patching, and high availability architectures .
- Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting skills.
- Experience working in regulated or highly controlled environments .
Preferred
- Exposure to OCI and cloud database services .
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, automation , and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of multiple database platforms beyond Oracle.
- Background in financial services or other low-latency, high-availability environments is advantageous.
