We are looking for a Database Administrator to provide core database administration, support, and infrastructure design across various database technologies. This role requires on-call, after-hours/weekend support when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24x7 support for production databases and daily operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues
- Perform database schema design and assessments
- Conduct database performance tuning and optimization
- Manage database patching, upgrades, and version control (on-premise / cloud e.g. AWS)
- Monitor database performance and ensure system health and availability
- Support database requirements for new project developments
- Perform SQL tuning and optimization for new and existing applications
- Handle database backup, recovery, duplication, and restoration
Requirements
- Minimum 56 years of experience in database administration
- Experience in database infrastructure and architecture design
- Hands-on experience with one or more databases: Oracle, MongoDB, or other relational / NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g. AWS RDS or similar)
- Strong experience in database performance tuning and optimization
- Experience in backup & recovery, monitoring, and database health management
- Experience in writing and optimizing queries (SQL / PL/SQL or equivalent)
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate in English (Chinese is a plus due to business requirements)
- Able to participate in discussions and provide technical recommendations
Good to Have:
- Experience with Oracle tools (e.g. OEM, GoldenGate, RAC) or MongoDB ecosystem
- Exposure to other databases such as Redis, Redshift, etc.
- Knowledge of high-volume data processing and data warehousing
- Familiarity with application architecture (e.g. Java / J2EE)
Required Education (including Major):
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Database Administration, CIS or related Technical major.
