Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to take ownership of the day-to-day operational management of databases and ensure they consistently meet business and service level requirements. This role involves leading a team, providing technical expertise, and acting as the main point of contact for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operational activities of database administration to ensure business and service level requirements are met.
- Act as the technical lead and mentor for junior database administrators, providing guidance and support.
- Represent the team in front of customers, ensuring clear communication and professional engagement.
- Lead and manage database changes through the change request process, including providing progress and status reports to stakeholders.
- Deliver 1st and 2nd level operational support for databases.
- Respond promptly to incidents by investigating, providing temporary or permanent resolutions, and keeping stakeholders informed with timely updates.
- Proactively monitor and measure database performance and availability identify and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure service levels are achieved and maintained propose and implement action plans when deviations are identified.
- Maintain accurate database configurations and provide regular reporting to relevant parties.
- Implement and oversee standard operating procedures for database management.
- Lead the implementation of business continuity measures, including backup/restore processes and disaster recovery planning, to safeguard operations.
- Participate and take a leading role in database implementation projects.
- Stay updated with emerging database technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Foster teamwork and lead by example, ensuring collaboration within the team.
- Provide timely support as required.
- Deliver excellent customer service and build strong working relationships.
