We are looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise databases, ensuring their performance, reliability, and security. This role is ideal for someone with solid DBA experience who wants to deepen their expertise in database operations, automation, and cloud integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and tune database performance to ensure stability and efficiency.
- Support database operations including backup & recovery, replication, and patch management.
- Assist in capacity planning, performance testing, and database sizing activities.
- Work with developers and application teams to build and maintain effective database environments.
- Create and manage storage structures (tablespaces, filesystems) and assist in creating database objects (tables, indexes, views).
- Manage user accounts, access control, and ensure data is distributed securely and efficiently.
- Support database upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance schedules.
- Contribute to developing and enforcing database standards and operating procedures.
- Participate in risk assessment and contribute to solutions that improve data security and reliability.
- Provide on-call support as part of a rotational 24/7 standby for incident resolution.
- Assist in introducing automation tools and scripts to improve efficiency.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in database administration with Oracle (primary), MariaDB, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with database backup & recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Exposure to high-availability solutions (e.g., RAC clusters, Data Guard, replication tools) is an advantage.
Skills & Knowledge
- Solid understanding of database design and administration in large-scale environments.
- Basic knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, or similar) and willingness to learn more.
- Familiarity with Red Hat Linux (RHEL) or Windows Server administration.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (Change, Incident, Problem Management) preferred.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, MySQL Enterprise Monitor, or MONyog is a plus.
