About the Role
Affluent Software Innovations Pte Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Database Migration Architect to lead enterprise-scale database modernization initiatives, migrating Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases from on-premises environments to Microsoft Azure Managed Database Services.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in database migration architecture, Azure migration tools, cloud database services, automation, and operational governance. This role requires hands-on experience in planning, designing, executing, and optimizing complex database migration programs while ensuring minimal downtime, data integrity, security, and business continuity.
KeyResponsibilities
Database Migration Architecture
- Design end-to-end migration architectures for Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases migrating from on-premises environments to Azure.
- Develop migration strategies aligned with business, technical, security, and operational requirements.
- Perform database discovery, dependency analysis, and migration readiness assessments.
- Recommend optimal Azure database services based on workload characteristics.
MigrationPlanning & Execution
- Plan and execute enterprise database migrations using Azure Database Migration Service (Azure DMS) and related Azure migration tools.
- Define migration approaches including online, offline, phased, and near-zero downtime migrations.
- Develop detailed cutover strategies, rollback plans, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Execute schema migration, data migration, validation, reconciliation, and post-migration optimization activities.
TechnicalGovernance & Documentation
- Prepare comprehensive migration architecture documents.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), migration runbooks, technical design documents, operational checklists, and implementation guides.
- Create migration validation procedures and post-migration verification checklists.
- Maintain technical documentation throughout the migration lifecycle.
PerformanceOptimization
- Perform database sizing, capacity planning, and performance assessments.
- Optimize migrated databases for Azure Managed Database Services.
- Tune database performance and monitor post-migration workloads.
- Implement best practices for backup, recovery, monitoring, and high availability.
Automation
- Automate migration and operational activities using:
- PowerShell
- Azure CLI
- T-SQL
- PL/SQL
- Scripting frameworks
- Improve migration efficiency through automation and repeatable deployment processes.
StakeholderCollaboration
- Work closely with infrastructure, networking, cloud, application, and security teams.
- Coordinate migration schedules, cutovers, testing, and production deployments.
- Support customer workshops, technical discussions, and migration planning sessions.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
Troubleshooting& Support
- Resolve migration-related technical issues.
- Perform root cause analysis for migration failures.
- Ensure successful production stabilization following migration.
- Provide post-go-live support and optimization recommendations.
