Data Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of Data Governance, Data Sovereignty, Data Risk Assessment (DRA), and regulatory transformation initiatives from project mobilization through execution.
• Drive project planning, scope definition, requirements baselining, and delivery governance to ensure successful program outcomes.
• Partner with Business, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Data Management, and Technology teams to align objectives, priorities, and regulatory requirements.
• Facilitate workshops, gather and analyze business requirements, and translate them into clear functional and operational deliverables.
• Develop and maintain key project artefacts, including business requirements, process documentation, project plans, risk logs, and governance documentation.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel and internal stakeholders to interpret regulatory obligations and convert them into practical business processes and controls.
• Lead the implementation of data sovereignty controls, cross-border data transfer governance, and corridor-based transfer risk assessment frameworks.
• Monitor project risks, dependencies, and issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective stakeholder communication.
• Act as a player-coach by providing strategic project leadership while actively contributing to business analysis and execution activities.
• Ensure projects are delivered in compliance with organizational governance standards, regulatory requirements, and agreed timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading Data Governance, Data Sovereignty, Data Risk Assessment (DRA), or regulatory transformation programs.
• Strong project management experience with the ability to independently lead project mobilization, planning, and delivery.
• Hands-on business analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, process mapping, and documentation.
• Proven experience managing senior global stakeholders across Business, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Data, and Technology functions.
• Experience working with external legal counsel and translating legal or regulatory requirements into operational processes and business controls.
• Good understanding of data sovereignty regulations, cross-border data transfer governance, and corridor-based transfer risk assessments.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Experience within Banking or Financial Services is strongly preferred.
