Job Description

The Data Migration Architect is a senior client-facing leader responsible for owning the data migration

workstream on a large-scale Oracle HCM SaaS implementation. This is a management and delivery

leadership role: the individual will define the migration approach in partnership with the client, scope and

agree the objects to be migrated, and drive a team of migration analysts and developers to deliver against

that plan.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Approach Definition

.Lead client-facing workshops and working sessions to define and agree the Data Migration Strategy and Approach - covering scope, phasing, methodology, and success criteria.

.Lead data mapping workshops with HR, Payroll and IT SMEs to produce comprehensive source-to-target mapping documents covering all HCM data objects (Core HR, Absence, Talent, Payroll Balances, Position, Assignment History, etc.).

.Work with client HR, IT, and data stakeholders to identify and confirm the full set of migration objects, including current and historical records, open transactions, and reference data across all in-scope HCM modules.

.Facilitate scope decisions where client requirements are ambiguous or conflicting, offering clear recommendations grounded in Oracle HCM best practice.

.Own and maintain the Migration Scope document, keeping it aligned to programme scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.

.Build trusted relationships with key client contacts - HR leads, data owners, and IT representatives - acting as the primary migration point of contact throughout the engagement.

Workstream Planning & Delivery Management

.Own the end-to-end delivery plan for the data migration workstream, from initial scoping through mock migration cycles, cutover rehearsals, and go-live.

.Set clear workstream priorities, milestones, and deliverables, and hold the team accountable for on-time, quality delivery.

.Lead and manage a team of Data Migration Analysts and ETL developers through iterative extraction, transformation, loading and validation cycles.

.Oversee development of extraction scripts, transformation logic and HDL load programs, ensuring alignment with Oracle best practices and client IT standards.

.Plan and execute multiple mock migration cycles (typically 3-5), conducting lessons- learned reviews and continuous improvement of migration artefacts between cycles.

.Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and cross-workstream dependencies - escalating and resolving before they impact the programme critical path.

.Manage the migration schedule across multiple mock cycles, tracking readiness against agreed acceptance criteria and driving improvement between runs.

.Coordinate closely with functional leads across Core HR, Payroll, Talent, and other modules to align migration timelines, data validation activities, and cutover sequencing.

.Report workstream status clearly and confidently to the Programme Manager and senior client stakeholders, including participation in governance forums and steering committees.

.Produce and maintain a comprehensive Data Migration Artefact Library: strategy, mapping specs, transformation rules, DQ reports, sign-off logs and reconciliation evidence.

Team Leadership

.Lead, direct, and motivate a team of data migration analysts and developers - providing clear priorities, quality expectations, and day-to-day direction.

.Remove blockers and resolve ambiguity so the team can deliver at pace without unnecessary delays.

.Review and quality-assure key team outputs including data mapping specifications, transformation rules, reconciliation reports, and mock migration results.

.Coach team members on client engagement, delivery disciplines, and Oracle HCM domain knowledge actively contribute to their growth and development.

Migration Governance & Go-Live Readiness

.Establish and enforce migration governance standards - including data quality thresholds, client sign-off processes, and issue triage and escalation procedures.

.Ensure client data owners are actively engaged and accountable for data cleansing, validation, and formal sign-off at each stage.

.Lead cutover planning, including blackout windows, go/no-go criteria, and rollback procedures, ensuring all parties are aligned and prepared.

.Ensure all migration activities comply with data privacy requirements (including GDPR where applicable) and programme quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience Essential

.10-12+ years of experience in data migration on enterprise HCM or ERP transformation programmes, with demonstrated ownership of the migration workstream - not just execution within it.

.Proven track record of leading client conversations to define migration scope and approach, including facilitating workshops and driving decisions with senior stakeholders.

.At least 3 full-lifecycle Oracle HCM Cloud (Fusion) implementations with accountability for data migration delivery end to end.

.Sufficient Oracle HCM data knowledge to scope objects confidently across Core HR, Payroll, Talent, Compensation, Benefits, and Absence - and to challenge and advise the client with authority.

.Demonstrated ability to manage and direct a delivery team, maintaining quality and pace in a pressured programme environment.

.Strong facilitation and communication skills - comfortable running workshops, chairing governance meetings, and presenting to senior client stakeholders.

.Experience managing migration risks, issues, and dependencies within a complex, multi-workstream programme.
