Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Governance lead / head to lead the design, implementation, and execution of our enterprise-wide data governance framework. This role will ensure that data across all entities, regions, and functions is consistent, trusted, and aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building the Group Data Governance Office (DGO), aligning data definitions, metrics, and ownership models across subsidiaries and functions, while driving data literacy and fostering a culture of accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance Strategy & Operating Model
- Define and lead the group-wide data governance strategy, policies, and roadmap.
- Establish the Data Governance Office (DGO) and governance operating model (Domain Owners, Data Stewards, Data Users).
- Build accountability and ownership structures to ensure data quality and consistency across all business units.
- Data Definition Alignment & Metric Standardization
- Develop and maintain an enterprise data dictionary and business glossary.
- Lead initiatives to align KPI definitions and reporting metrics across Finance, Risk, Product, Marketing, Operations.
- Ensure a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) for business reporting and analytics.
- Data Quality & Stewardship
- Define and enforce data quality standards, processes, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Drive continuous improvement programs to enhance data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Empower Data Stewards across domains to enforce governance and ensure compliance with standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, Risk, Compliance, IT, Product, Marketing, and Operations to embed governance into business processes.
- Facilitate cross-department governance councils to resolve metric discrepancies and align reporting.
- Promote data literacy and governance awareness throughout the company.
- Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Work closely with Compliance and IT to ensure adherence to relevant data regulations (GDPR, PDPA, MAS).
- Support regulatory reporting, audits, and risk management activities related to data governance.
- Ensure governance practices are aligned with enterprise-wide security and compliance frameworks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Business, or related fields.
- Experience:
- 8+ years in data governance, data management, or information governance.
- Proven experience driving data definition alignment and KPI standardization across large, complex enterprises.
- Fintech/financial services experience strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with metadata management, master data management (MDM), and BI/analytics platforms.
- Strong business acumenability to connect governance to commercial priorities.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills in matrix organizations.
Preferred
- Experience in fintech, banking, payments, or trading industries.
- Track record of harmonizing data definitions and KPIs across regions and business units.
- Knowledge of data compliance and risk management in regulated environments.
