The Opportunity:
- Adecco is partnering with a public sector agency to search for a Data Engineer with strong expertise in cloud platforms and distributed systems, proficient in Python and SQL, skilled in modern data and DevOps tools, and capable of designing scalable, secure data solutions aligned with business and governance needs.
The Job:
- Define and drive data engineering strategies and architectural frameworks that align with organizational goals.
- Assess and recommend data platforms and architectural solutions to support evolving needs, including AI-driven use cases.
- Convert business data requirements into scalable, technical designs and implementations.
- Design and develop robust data pipelines to ingest, process, integrate, and standardize data from multiple sources.
- Build and manage secure, cloud-based data infrastructure with appropriate access controls.
- Oversee and enhance ETL processes and database systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop reusable data models and maintain comprehensive data catalogues, including metadata and lineage tracking.
- Partner with data stewards to uphold data governance, quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Lead both greenfield and brownfield projects, guiding stakeholders from problem identification through to solution delivery.
- Establish standardized methodologies for assessments, discovery, and solution design based on best practices.
- Promote engineering excellence and advocate for modern data and infrastructure approaches across teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles.
- Strong foundation in data system design, data structures, algorithms, and architectural modeling.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and distributed technologies like Spark or Hadoop.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory) and DevOps practices (e.g., Docker, Git, Terraform).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Experience working with platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Denodo, including batch and real-time data processing.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, and privacy, particularly in regulated or public sector environments.
