Purpose of the Position: The Data Engineer (Informatica/Talend) will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and integration solutions to support data analytics and business operations. The role focuses on leveraging ETL tools such as Informatica and/or Talend, along with SQL and Python, to enable efficient data processing, transformation, and delivery while ensuring data quality and governance.
Key Result Areas and Activities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL workflows using Informatica and/or Talend.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes from multiple data sources into data warehouses or data platforms.
- Develop and maintain scalable data models and data warehouse structures, applying dimensional modelling techniques.
- Perform data cleansing, transformation, merging, and integration to ensure consistency and usability of datasets.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into data engineering solutions.
- Conduct data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of data pipelines.
- Support testing activities, including system testing and validation of ETL processes, ensuring robustness and performance.
- Optimise data pipelines and workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and performance.
- Document data pipelines, data models, transformation logic, and business rules for governance and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs including data pipelines, documentation, and technical artefacts.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in designing and developing applications using Informatica and/or Talend
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in SQL and Python programming for data manipulation
- Experience in data modelling and data warehousing techniques
- Experience in data cleansing, transformation, merging, and integration
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in data validation and quality assurance
- Knowledge of software testing methodologies would be advantageous
- Ability to work with large datasets and ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Strong planning, coordination, and time management skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills
Desirable Skills :
- Knowledge of security vulnerability assessment and testing practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
