Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a global technology organization supporting the build and delivery of large-scale data centre, compute, storage, and AI infrastructure. The team works closely with manufacturing partners, suppliers, engineering, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure hardware is delivered on time and at scale.

Contract

1-year contract, subject to extension based on performance and business needs.

About the Role

We are hiring a Data Center Hardware Commodity Manager to support the supply chain operations of a major global technology client.

This role will be responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships across compute and storage hardware commodities, with a strong focus on server, storage, and networking rack-level infrastructure. You will work closely with ODMs, component suppliers, sourcing, planning, engineering, finance, and logistics teams to ensure material availability, supplier performance, and supply continuity for large-scale infrastructure build plans.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing hardware commodities in a high-volume manufacturing, cloud infrastructure, or data center environment, and be comfortable operating between supplier execution, risk management, and senior stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management

  • Manage day-to-day and strategic relationships with suppliers supporting data center hardware programs.
  • Work with suppliers to improve delivery performance, lead times, capacity readiness, and overall supply reliability.
  • Run regular supplier check-ins to review open issues, upcoming risks, performance metrics, and improvement plans.
  • Escalate and resolve supply issues with ODMs, OEMs, component suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure suppliers are aligned with production schedules, build plans, and infrastructure deployment timelines.

Supply Planning and Material Readiness

  • Track material availability across assigned hardware commodities to support production and deployment plans.
  • Review demand, supply, inventory, and delivery data to identify gaps or potential risks early.
  • Work with planning teams, suppliers, and ODMs to address shortages, allocation issues, long lead-time parts, and material constraints.
  • Support material readiness for new product introductions, product transitions, and lifecycle changes.
  • Monitor excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory and support actions to reduce supply chain exposure.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with engineering, sourcing, procurement, planning, finance, logistics, and operations teams to keep supply execution on track.
  • Work closely with ODM partners to align on build schedules, component availability, capacity, and quality expectations.
  • Support supplier qualification, dual-source planning, cost improvement, and supply continuity initiatives.
  • Balance competing priorities across internal teams and external partners in a fast-moving environment.
  • Help remove blockers that may impact hardware production, delivery, or infrastructure rollout.

Reporting and Communication

  • Provide clear updates on supplier performance, supply risks, shortages, and recovery plans.
  • Maintain dashboards, trackers, and scorecards for key metrics such as delivery performance, lead time, allocation, inventory, and cost.
  • Prepare concise updates for leadership reviews, program meetings, and cross-functional discussions.
  • Turn complex supply chain issues into clear recommendations and next steps.
  • Ensure risks are communicated early, with practical actions and ownership clearly defined.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in supply chain, commodity management, supplier management, material planning, or hardware operations.
  • Experience working in a high-volume manufacturing, technology hardware, infrastructure, data center, or related environment.
  • Strong supplier management experience, including performance tracking, escalation handling, and improvement planning.
  • Hands-on experience with server, storage, networking, or rack-level infrastructure hardware is required.
  • Good understanding of supply planning, demand signals, supplier capacity, lead times, allocation, inventory, and delivery risks.
  • Comfortable working with ODMs, OEMs, EMS providers, or component suppliers.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review complex data and identify clear actions.
  • Able to manage urgent issues, competing priorities, and cross-functional challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear updates for senior stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related discipline.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in cloud infrastructure, hyperscale data centers, server hardware, storage hardware, networking hardware, or Tier-1 ODM/OEM environments.
  • Experience managing hardware commodities such as CPUs, GPUs, memory, SSDs, HDDs, PCBAs, connectors, power supplies, thermal components, or rack-level assemblies.
  • Experience supporting APAC supply chains, especially across Taiwan, China, and Southeast Asia.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, planning, or analytics tools such as SAP, Oracle, Kinaxis, Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Mandarin language capability would be useful for supplier and ODM communication.
  • APICS/ASCM certification, MBA, or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related field would be advantageous.
  • Experience driving supplier improvement, cost reduction, lead-time reduction, or total cost improvement initiatives.
