Job Description

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Data & AI Governance Lead to join its Chief Data Office. This is a senior role responsible for shaping enterprise-wide data governance and AI oversight, supporting regulatory compliance, ethical AI adoption, and high-quality data practices across global businesses.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Governance

  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Establish clear ownership models across data domains, working closely with data owners and stewards.

AI Governance & Responsible AI

  • Define and enforce AI governance and ethics principles, including model risk assessment, bias detection, privacy, and security controls.
  • Align AI governance practices with global regulatory and industry standards.

Regulatory & Risk Management

  • Lead governance alignment with key regulatory requirements, including data risk, reporting standards, and material outsourcing (including cloud).
  • Act as a trusted partner to Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams on data-related regulatory matters.

Data Quality & Metadata

  • Implement data quality metrics, controls, and monitoring processes.
  • Drive metadata management initiatives such as data lineage, business glossaries, and data dictionaries.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a central governance point of contact across Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance, and business teams.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and embed governance practices into day-to-day operations.

Governance Digitalisation

  • Support the automation and digitisation of governance processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and risk visibility.

Requirements

  • 1015+ years of experience in data, analytics, or data governance roles within financial services.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, data protection regulations, and AI/ML risk management.
  • Hands-on familiarity with data management tools (data catalogues, data quality platforms) and cloud environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in complex, matrixed organisations and influence at senior leadership level.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex governance concepts for non-technical audiences.
