Key Responsibilities

1. Secure Architecture & Engineering

Design and implement secure architectures across robots, controllers, edge, and cloud platforms

Implement device hardening, secure boot, and firmware integrity controls

Integrate cybersecurity practices into the robotics SDLC (DevSecOps)

Identify and mitigate attack surfaces across the system lifecycle

2. Fleet Security Operations

Maintain asset inventory and configuration baselines for robotic systems

Ensure secure provisioning and deployment of devices

Monitor fleet security posture and investigate anomalies

Detect and analyse robotics-specific threats (e.g. spoofing, command injection, firmware tampering)

3. Vulnerability & Patch Management

Manage vulnerabilities across operating systems, firmware, and dependencies

Implement risk-based patching aligned with operational constraints

Oversee secure OTA updates (code signing, staged deployment, rollback protection)

Support software supply chain security practices (e.g. SBOM)

4. Identity & Access Management

Implement authentication and authorisation controls for users and devices

Manage device identity and certificate lifecycle (PKI)

Enforce least privilege and privileged access controls

5. Network & Communication Security

Implement IT/OT segmentation and secure network architecture

Secure communications (TLS, VPN, Zero Trust principles)

Ensure secure connectivity for mobile robotic platforms (e.g. WiFi, 5G)

6. Monitoring & Incident Response

Integrate robotic telemetry into SOC/SIEM platforms

Monitor for threats and respond to cybersecurity incidents

Execute containment actions (e.g. isolation, safe shutdown)

Support validation of cyber-triggered fail-safe mechanisms

7. Safety & Governance Alignment

Ensure cybersecurity controls do not compromise safety systems

Support alignment with relevant cybersecurity and safety standards (e.g. NIST, ISO, IEC)

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on threat scenarios and risk initiatives
