Job Description:
- Customs & Freight Specialist is responsible for freight activities. Incumbent is also responsible for leading cost savings initiatives, involved in projects and implementation.
- Incumbent is expected to apply strong analytical and logical thinking to identify solutions and assess the feasibility of proposed plans. In addition, will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to drive the effective implementation of processes and technology.
Responsibilities:
Freight
- Managing Logistics Service Providers (LSP) performance in meeting desired SLA - build rapport with respective LSPs for their support to resolve shipment issues.
- Ensure invoices are billed correctly, charge to appropriate cost centre and on-time submission for payment.
- Request for freight quote when required.
- Identify and drive cost savings initiatives for freight.
- Analyse & track shipment trending, abnormal occurrences. Propose improvement action plan and execute into feasible result.
- Prepare and manage inbound freight forecasts, track shipment performance against plans, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time and cost-effective delivery.
Business Continuous Improvement Activities
- Plan continuous improvement activities and performance improvement strategies
- Evaluate impact of different problem-solving approaches and outcomes
- Review and Implement new Business Process Flow as part of Continuous Improvement.
- Evaluate work products aligned to business requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Implement environmental protection policies and procedures
Projects
- Support Hexagon Innovation Process (HIP) Project on new parts on Harmonized System (HS) Code and country of origin classification in SAP.
Customs
- Coordinating with Finance for Manufacturing Cost Statements, validate suppliers COO declaration.
- New application and renewal of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) packages with Singapore Customs.
- Archive documents related to Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and tariff saving tracking.
- Responsible for maintaining the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) article file for the SICC eCO application.
Requirements:
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Familiar with customs procedures
- Familiar with import and export policies, regulations and procedures
- Knowledgeable in application of Free Trade Agreements
- Knowledgeable in Incoterms, Harmonized Code and Free Trade Agreement and customs clearance procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel
- Knowledgeable in SAP will be an advantage
- A team player and able to work independently under tight schedules
Education
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Business
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years working experience in manufacturing environment preferably with import and export control function. in an import and export control function
