Job Description

Brief Summary

Join a dedicated team as an Instrument Technician, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the availability of sterile surgical instruments through effective operations in a supportive healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Central Sterile Support Department, including receiving, sorting, decontamination, inspection, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies. Ensure staff compliance with established standards for operating sterilization and decontamination equipment. Conduct sterilizer test evaluations and monitor outcomes for sterilization processes. Manage inventory of sterile items and ensure timely and accurate supply distribution to all areas. Track preventive maintenance schedules for all sterilization and decontamination equipment, ensuring compliance. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department storage areas. Utilize and maintain equipment properly, reporting any defects and facilitating necessary repairs. Collaborate with theatre nurses to ascertain required instrument sets for procedures. Facilitate a collaborative work environment and ensure efficient workflow within the department Provide clear communication and handover of essential information to colleagues and supervisory staff.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Engineering or a relevant technical qualification. WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services) is advantageous. A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in CSSD/TSSU or equivalent role. Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
