Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to take ownership of counterparty credit assessment and portfolio monitoring within a commodities trading environment. The role requires independent credit judgement, commercial awareness and close engagement with trading and senior stakeholders to support business activities while managing credit risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead credit assessments of new and existing counterparties, analysing financial statements, cash flow, industry outlook and country risks.
  • Formulate credit recommendations, including appropriate limits, tenors and risk mitigation measures, for internal approval.
  • Manage ongoing portfolio reviews, monitoring credit exposure, limit utilisation and changes in counterparty creditworthiness.
  • Identify and escalate emerging risks, recommending appropriate actions to address deteriorating credit profiles or exposure concerns.
  • Partner with trading, operations, finance and legal teams to assess transactions, advise on credit terms and resolve credit-related issues.
  • Prepare and present credit proposals and portfolio risk updates to senior management and relevant approval committees.
  • Strengthen credit policies, assessment methodologies and reporting processes, ensuring adherence to internal risk requirements.
  • Provide guidance to junior colleagues and contribute to credit risk projects and process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 8–10 years of relevant credit risk experience, with substantial exposure to commodities or energy trading.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to independently assess complex counterparties and formulate sound credit recommendations.
  • Good understanding of trading exposures, credit support arrangements and risk mitigation tools.
  • Proven ability to engage trading teams and senior stakeholders, balancing commercial objectives with disciplined risk management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate credit views and constructively challenge proposals.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced trading environment.
