We are seeking a Credit Controller for managing the Accounts Receivable (AR) portfolio, overseeing credit control activities, minimizing credit risk, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This role works closely with the sales, operations, and management teams to maintain healthy cash flow, ensure compliance with company credit policies, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
. Oversee the Accounts Receivable (AR) and credit control functions, ensuring effective management of customer credit exposure and timely collection of outstanding debts.
. Monitor customer credit limits and review accounts that exceed approved credit terms, recommending appropriate actions to management.
. Review and evaluate customer credit applications before submission for management approval.
. Manage account blocking and unblocking based on payment status and credit policy requirements.
. Follow up on overdue accounts and implement collection strategies to improve cash flow and reduce aging balances.
. Prepare, analyze, and present AR aging reports and credit control reports for management review and decision-making.
. Work closely with the sales team to review customer accounts, resolve credit-related issues, and support collection activities.
. Communicate with customers regarding overdue balances, payment reminders.
. Ensure timely issuance of customer Statements of Account (SOA) and maintain accurate customer account records.
. Review and update bad debt provisions, bad debt expenses, and related General Ledger (GL) reconciliations.
. Coordinate debt recovery activities, including engaging debt collection agencies, preparing documentation for Small Claims Tribunal cases, and liaising with legal counsel on debt recovery matters.
. Prepare supporting documents and coordinate with internal stakeholders for court hearings and legal proceedings when required.
. Conduct credit control orientation and training for new sales personnel and provide ongoing guidance on company credit policies and procedures.
. Develop, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
. Review Deferred Income balances and prepare the necessary accounting entries for income recognition and year-end reporting.
. Identify potential credit risks and escalate critical issues to management with recommendations for resolution.
. Perform any other credit control, accounts receivable, and finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
. Minimum 3 years of experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, and Collections.
. Strong understanding of credit management, debt recovery processes, and accounting principles.
. Experience handling legal recovery cases and debt collection agencies will be an added advantage.
. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
. Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
. Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
