Job Description

What The Role Is

You will play a key role in advancing student wellbeing and success at Temasek Polytechnic through professional counselling and care.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Provide counselling, crisis intervention and psychological assessments in all matters related to students (as individual and/or group) and their families, where necessary.
  • Provide social work services to students (e.g. assessment of household situation, case follow up with family of client, if necessary).
  • Conduct mental health literacy and peer support skills training to students.
  • Plan and implement wellness programmes and roadshows for students.
  • Establish network and partnership with care team from higher institute of higher learnings and community health agencies (eg. hospitals, family service centres etc) on youth mental wellness initiatives.
  • Conduct training and consultation to para-counsellors and academic staff on supporting students with socio-emotional issues.
  • Use of data and technology to support counselling related work, e.g. data-analytics, chatbots

What We Are Looking For


  • Relevant background in counselling, psychology, social work or related disciplines, and has attained proficiency and membership recognised by SAC, SASW or other professional bodies
  • At least 5 years of experience in clinical counselling or social service sector
  • Experience in crisis intervention work in an education institution, facilitating workshops, good networks with other mental health organisations will be advantageous
  • Able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Good administrative skills for record keeping and management reporting of cases
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team setting
